Welcome back!
School Supplies
I know everyone is on a budget, join the club! I have tried to make this as cheap, yet beneficial for everyone. There are a few mandatory items that are just CRUCIAL for our existence, then I gave a wish list. These are things we need for holidays, etc. Keep these in mind, so that if you see them on sale throughout the year, you can pick them up for us. Many of the common items, we already have in stock. That comes from teaching for 20+ years, but Mrs. Mason and I spend hundreds throughout the year, so it is always nice to get some help on the consumables! You can bring these supplies with you on orientation so that your child does not have to try to manage them on the first day of school!
Mandatory Supplies
One 3 ring binder - 1"
Glue sticks (at least one pack) - the fat ones hold up the best! Dear Lord - we always need GLUE STICKS!! Our curriculum is VERY cut and glue based.
Crayons (3 - 24 packs, regular size)- May I please beg you to get Crayola?! For our kiddos it is very frustrating to get crayons that do not color the color they say or look to be, especially when doing a color specific activity. Plus, the cheaper brands do not last. They break so much easier, we go through more, and then it really wasn't cost effective at all!
Diaper Wipes (1 pack) - We do not just use these for bottoms! These are used at lunch for hands, and all during the day for quick clean up!
Headphones - Yes, I know you bought them last year! By the end of the year, only two worked! Our kids pull them out by the cord, chew on them, drop them etc. Plus, they are used DAILY, and not only at the computers! They never last! May I suggest Target. They have some that are $5 with a fabric cord. Those were the only ones still working at the end of the year!
Backpack - There are many days that these come to school and go home empty. I know....But when I do have stuff to send home, it is normally A LOT! We will have agendas this year, but everyone knows how wonderful I am at doing those. Since I see most of you on a daily basis, I feel like they are redundant. But, we have new leadership that might change my tune.
Kleenex - need I explain this? Plus, I DO NOT use the school board issue tissue! They are nose killers for our kiddos!
Clorox Wipes - you know the saying Germs and Jesus are everywhere? This is most definitely the case in a classroom. We work tirelessly to keep our classroom clean. We eat three meals a day together in the room along with play and crafts. I am surprised that the table tops still have a finish on them. We wipe the kids' areas multiple times a day. If you are ever in Lowe's - the Clorox wipes are the cheapest there (believe it or not) and of course Sam's!
Pantry Items - a box of juice boxes/bags that your child prefers and a snack item that your child likes. We have snack every afternoon, but we also accommodate throughout the day if someone says they are hungry or thirsty. There are days that lunch or breakfast just doesn't cut it, and we run our room like home. If they ask for juice, they get it! I spend at least $10 a week in the grocery store on juice and/or snacks for the room. Please help out! The children will never go hungry. If they ask for something, they get it. You cannot learn if your tummy is hungry!
My Wish List Supplies
These are supplies that we go through, over and over. If you see them on sale, or have a coupon, please think of us throughout the year!
Snacks and Cereal - All of us know how picky or kiddos are! We accommodate all of their needs and wants. If your child has something they are dependent on, please send it in! We will keep it on hand for them!
Antibacterial soap/ Hand Sanitizer - Again, very self explanatory...
Paper goods! I will take anything......cups, bowls, plates! We use them all, daily! We use them for snack time and cooking obviously, but we also use them for arts and crafts. We have the children "set" the table for lunch every day. So we do not eat on trays from the cafeteria, but more family style.
Anything crafty - like foam shapes, glitter, etc. If you ever see a really good deal, think of us! Mrs. Mason and I love to do crafts with the children. Not only is it fun, but we are working on those fine motor skills and following directions. We about go broke at holidays on crafty things, so we appreciate all the help we can get!
AS ALWAYS......
PLEASE SEND A CHANGE OF CLOTHES, INCLUDING UNDIES AND SOCKS TO KEEP IN YOUR CHILD'S BATHROOM CUBBIE! IT MIGHT BE AN ACCIDENT, BUT IT MIGHT BE SPILLED JUICE. YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN WE NEED TO HAVE A WARDROBE CHANGE!
